LOGLINE
“For Ziv” is a documentary feature film about a young Israeli family who survived the October 7th terrorist attack in Kibbutz Kfar Aza just 3km from the Gaza border with their infant son, Ziv. This film follows them over the course of a year as they attempt to rebuild their lives after unfathomable loss.
SYNOPSIS
Maya, Dvir, and their baby Ziv survived the October 7th terrorist attack in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, just 3km from the Gaza border. For 24 hours, they were trapped in their safe room hearing war raging outside their windows and received nonstop messages on WhatsApp from their neighbors and childhood friends begging for help.
It was through these messages that Maya and Dvir learned that Dvir's sister, Hadar, and her husband, Itay, were brutally murdered in their home, leaving behind two 10-month-old orphaned twins in the crib, next to the lifeless bloody body of their father.
Over 1200 people were massacred that day in Israel. In their community of Kfar Aza, over 60 innocent civilians were murdered, 18 were kidnapped, and 5 are still being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza one year later.
Since October 7th, their lives have been shattered. They’ve been refugees in their own country bouncing between temporary housing and attempting to rebuild their lives so their son, Ziv, doesn’t need to carry the burden of intergenerational trauma.
"For Ziv" is a story of resilience. It’s not just about documenting October 7th, it’s about chronicling what life is like for survivors in the aftermath of a traumatic event or terror attack. It's about witnessing their grief and healing process as the camera rolls over an extended period of a year, watching their tremendous resilience as they find the strength to move forward.
